Malaysia Golf Introducing
Many people will probably think of  island getaways like Penang, Langkawi, Sipadan, Pulau Redang, Tioman  Island when it comes to touring Malaysia, without realizing that this land of 26 million people also ranks as a golfer’s paradise. On this land of 330,000 square kilometers, there are 190 golf courses spreading over highland, seaside, islands, tropical rain forest, rural or town districts, covering a spectrum of varying natural landscapes of Malaysia as playing grounds . Maybe for the rich and famous, not so famous but well-to-do -- yes, golfing is no ordinary traveler game.
Being situated in the Eurasia continent, in between the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean and nearby the equatorial, Malaysia sports the tropical climate, with hot temperature and cooling breezes around the year, and this sort of weather proves to be of great attraction to tourists. Besides the seaside resorts, golfing has become a major tourism product of the country.
In Malaysia, golfing has a history dating back more than a hundred years. As early as in the 18th century, the Dutch after occupying part of Malaya , started building golf courses. During the British rule in the 1940s during the last century, the country made great strides in golf course development. After the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s, the Malaysian government started promoting golfing as a health sports for Malaysians in the hope that such a measure would help speed up economic recovery. Measures were taken to make golfing an affordable sport with high quality service. Today Malaysia with a relatively small population of 26 million can boast of 197 golf courses registered in the country, spread nation-wide. In and around Kuala Lumpur alone there are no less than 20 golf courses. Besides their attractive scenery, these golf courses are all replete with modern facilities to meet even the international golfers’ exacting standards and demand.
